Grade 1 in Year 10, then passed GCSE Maths

“When I started my GCSE maths course in Year 10, I was on a Grade 1 and felt completely lost and terrified of the subject. I remember crying through the first lessons because I was so scared of failing. But Miss Bhavisha was so patient and compassionate, always explaining things in a way I could actually understand and making sure I never felt embarrassed to ask questions. She provided loads of helpful resources and always believed in me, which completely changed how I felt about maths. Thanks to her support, I passed my maths GCSE and got into the sixth form of my choice, and now I’m doing A-Levels feeling confident. I genuinely couldn’t have done it without her.”

Underachieving to above average in a year

“I met Bhavisha, at a charity book launch organised by the CEO of “Migrant Leaders”, a charity that seeks to support young children from migrant and underprivileged backgrounds. I was incredibly impressed with her as a person and offered to mentor her. Since then, my opinion has not changed at all. She is well organised, creative and has a great sense of empathy in her thinking regarding the work that she does. She is highly motivated to grow her career in the teaching and tutoring sector. “She teaches my 2 daughters who are in year 11 and year 8 respectively. She teaches them with their weakness in mind and help them to understand what to do. The lessons are well structured also as Bhavisha asks them to write down notes in lessons and speak out when they do not understand a certain part. She sets homework after the lessons covering what was done to build their confidence. I have noticed a leap in their grades in school and they are well on their way to exceed them.”

“Hi Bhavisha. The paper 3 went very well as expected! Some questions I had to really think about as I had to use multiple formulae and rearrange them. Couple of questions I did find genuinely difficult, however the rest was very good. There was capture recapture, frequency polygons, area of a triangle (had to rearrange the cosine rule to find the angle), percentage profit, quadratic simultaneous equations, trigonometry, box plots with stem and leaf diagrams and so on (I’m finding it difficult to remember them all). Regardless I wanted to say thank you so so much for all your time and effort to be able to give me confidence to be able to do the higher tier paper. I used to think I could never do it, however you’ve helped me through rigorous amounts of questions on certain topics which definitely made a difference to at least try and get some method marks. Hopefully I’ll get the grade I want and once again, you’ve been a massive help so thank you so much. Have a wonderful day!”
